A NEW* Light Meter - AstrHori XH2
hunterhartphoto
ua-cam.com/users/hunterhart
This is a well built light meter by AstrHori. I test it against a Leica M10 to get instant results. I will be using it on one of my favorite 6x7 film cameras, the Rapid Omega 200.

Compared to the original Sony 24-70 GM how much better is this one? I’m looking to buy a 24-70 and found the original 24-70 GM at the same price as the New Sigma 24-70. Which one would you recommend?

The best combo is Leica glass on a Fuji body. The DR 400 mode on the Fuji gives 3 to 5 stops of highlight retention. Is not about the correct exposure. This is about getting a much more filmic rolloff on highlights.. The modern amenities of a Fuji body like an EVF, and with the x transform 4 sensor fast read out combined with the Leica glass truly gives you a vintage image . Don’t forget about those film simulations, which give you some amazing out of camera results, especially with your own custom set up. The highlight and shadow tone curves gives you exceptional control on the image. Plus, the reality that Digital bodies are subject to digital rot. Something that is not immune from.

Man, your photographs look amazing. Very unique composition and beautiful editing! I‘ve just downgraded from an R6 II to the 5D III. Might sound crazy but I was never really happy with the files I got from the R6. I have owned the 5D III years ago, it was my first professional full frame camera and started my career. A few weeks ago I felt nostalgic and started to play around with a few old photos from that time. And wow was I surprised how easy it was to get a great look out of them. The files from the 5D have a creamy, silky quality to them that I absolutely love. I currently don’t need the bells and whistles that the R6 offers so I pulled the trigger on a used 5D III in mint condition for 500 bucks, shot counter is at just under 20k. I will never ever sell that camera again.

Bro, you made me laugh so hard, precisely your nose joke, that I had to subscribe to your channel. Congrats on your new acquisition. I know so many doctors and attorneys that they would rather have a camera kit sold at COSTCO instead of getting a fine camera like the Leica. Most of them are point-and-shoot and let the camera and lenses do their magic instead of following the more traditional manual way. When I was 12 (a lifetime ago), an uncle gave me a Yashica Mat 124G. There was no UA-cam in 1972 to learn how to take pictures, just trial and error and then shooting again to fix the mistakes. Most of my shooting was done with manual film cameras until last year, when I jumped into the digital realm with a Fujifilm X-T30II and a used X-E3. Why those cameras in particular? They're retro and manual dials. I cannot shake the old habits. I own 13 lenses, and only four are AF; the rest are manual lenses. I do love my Fuji cameras, but I still shoot my Yashicas Mat and my Canons AE1-P. Stay safe🙏.

Thanks so much for sharing and I’m glad I could make you laugh 😅. I have had quite a few Canon AE1s myself, great cameras and easy to use. Fujifilm makes amazing cameras, I have done tons of reviews on them! Thanks so much for watching and subscribing!

@@hunterhart1 I like watching Martin Castein, a wedding photographer and his view on photography. He’s a “back to basics” guy and he loves those old 5d and 6d because of the color palette you can’t find in the modern cameras. His favorite camera is the 5d mark 1 with its creamy colors and his 2nd most favorite is the 5d mark 2 or the 6d mark 1 because of their color palette or scheme. The 5d mark 2 has a earthy tone and the 6d very similar to the 5d classic. I’m a beginner so I really appreciate your opinion! Thanks for responding and have a nice weekend!

@@brunodrakenas9575 I think it’s more so better low light performance, faster af and reliability. The colors from the canon 5Diii are my favorites but it’s all subjective. You’ll be happy with any of them

Your best video yet! I loved watching this. I will probably never own a Leica, but if I do go buy one I will watch this video before I go get it and after I get home with it. And every year on the Leica's birthday.

The ‘blown highlights’ thing is a bit of a myth for me with this camera. I have zero problems shooting with it once you 1. Shoot underexposed and 2. Learn how to edit the files which is a joy to experience how they behave. It’s all there! You justness to step away from being spoilt by modern tech :)

That’s literally what I said in the video 😅 underexpose to protect the highlights. Thanks for watching 🙏🏼
